The Director - Employee Communications is responsible for the development and implementation of internal employee communications in support of business needs and management of communication platforms. This role supports the execution of internal communications through various vehicles, including the company intranet and digital signage. This position acts as a subject-matter expert and works collaboratively across the organization on messaging related to key programmatic or organizational updates to enhance understanding and awareness.
Key responsibilities:
- Manages the full life cycle of internal employee communications from content creation, managing reviews and approvals to execution. Supports key stakeholders in the writing, editing and execution of Voice and Manager's Edge articles as appropriate. Provides support and content on email communications (Verisign Announcements, etc.). Manages the design and content of the company intranet (The Voice and Collaboration spaces) and in-building digital signage.
- Develops employee communication calendar and roadmap to drive content and communications. Coordinates with Strategic Communications (1) to ensure employee comms and social media postings are aligned and (2) for time sensitive employee communications (i.e. incident response messaging). Provides measurement and analysis on the effectiveness of employee communication programs.
- Partners within HR on key initiatives.
- Researches new tools and practices to stay abreast of the latest trends and platforms that may enhance the effectiveness of employee communication channels. Makes recommendations as appropriate.
Qualifications:
- 12 years of progressively responsible, related business experience
- 4+ years' experience managing others
- Strong communication skills
- Strong proofreading, writing, and editing skills
- Strong collaboration skills
- Expertise in analyzing data, developing insights that influence the strategy and lead to business results including excellent Excel and PowerPoint skills
- Experience and history of maintaining data governance over communications and content
- Experience with employee communication/collaboration platforms
- Proven track record of execution through program/project management
- Results oriented with an ability to identify and track metrics of success while delivering results through others
- Advanced relationship-management experience and consulting skills, with ability to lead, engage and build consensus across various levels of leaders
- Skilled facilitator. Demonstrated ability to have effective conversations with an executive audience while navigating difficult topics
- 4 Year Bachelors Degree in HR, Communications, Business, or a related field, or equivalent work experience required
This position is based in our Reston, VA office and offers a hybrid work schedule.
The pay range is $164,300 - $222,300.
The anticipated annual base salary range for this position is noted above, however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience. Verisign offers a discretionary bonus which is based on individual and company performance, and certain roles may be eligible for discretionary stock awards.
